Finca Las Brisas

Resilience and Passion: John Wilmer Cuellar's Transformation in the World of Speciality Coffee Colombia

Finca Las Brisas is a family legacy. I am John Wilmer Cuellar, a fourth-generation coffee farmer who grew up listening to the stories of hard times told by my grandparents. My father, Wilmer, managed to improve water management over the years, and everything was going well until the devastating rust wiped out most of the crop.

My father then decided to plant new varieties such as Castillo and Colombia, and in time, we moved into specialty coffees, planting Tabi, Pacamara, Geisha, Papayo, Tipica, Bourbon Sidra, Bourbon Rayado, Bourbon Rosado and Sudan Rume.

Seeing my father's tireless effort, I decided to help and learn about nutrition, yield factor, roasting and cupping at the SENA school. Today, I am the proud owner of Finca Las Brisas, following the love for work and coffee that my father instilled in me.

We have improved the infrastructure to optimise the coffee processes, including a laboratory with a roaster and mill, as well as an ecological mill. We are committed to caring for the environment and work with other farms to meet higher volumes of coffee, all benefiting from added value.

On our farm, we maintain traditional processes such as washed, semi-washed, honey and natural, always bringing out the best profile of each variety so that it is pleasant and pure for those who consume it.
